ALLSPICE

Allspice (Pimenta dioca) comes from a tree of green bright leaves of the myrtle family, native to Central America, Mexico and the Greater Antilles. It was encountered in the island of Jamaica by Christopher Columbus, and that is why in some countries it is known as Jamaican pepper, for the brownish and round shape of its berries resembles that of pepper.
The spice is the unripe and dried fruit of this tree .The name "allspice" comes from its flavor, which was described as a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
