Basil (Ocimum basilicum) is an herbaceous plant from the mint family, easily recognizable because of its mint scent. Fresh leaves are 5 cm long and 2 cm wide and are dark green in its upper side and greyish green in its lower side. It is grown mainly in Egypt, United States and France.
